Written around 60 – 65AD. He was a hated tax collector who became an eyewitness of Jesus (see chapter 9 verses 9-12). His gospel is placed first in the New Testament part of the Bible because it is a perfect bridge from the Old Testament.
Written around 64 – 68AD. He was not one of the 12 apostles of Jesus, but church tradition tells us that the apostle Peter was the source of the substance of this gospel. This gospel is the shortest of the four. It is also the one that moves the fastest. As you read it you will sense the breathlessness of its pace.
Written around 63 – 80AD. He was a
non-Jewish, possibly Syrian, medical doctor. You will read from the start of his method of gathering eye-witness accounts of the life of Jesus.
Written around 90 AD. Whereas Mark begins his gospel with the public life of Jesus (around 30 AD), Matthew begins with Abraham (around 1800 BC) and Luke begins with creation (Luke 3 verse 37), John begins in eternity.
